Daily Nonogram
The Daily Nonogram delivers one fresh picture-logic puzzle each day, shared by every player. Nonograms — also called Picross, Griddlers, or Hanjie — use number clues along the rows and columns to tell you which cells to fill, revealing a hidden image. The once-a-day format makes solving a routine with a streak instead of an endless feed of grids.
Daily Nonogram Rules
Each day a single grid loads with number clues running along the top of each column and the left of each row. The same puzzle is served to all players that date, so your time is comparable to everyone else's.
The numbers for a line give, in order, the lengths of the consecutive blocks of filled cells in that line, with at least one empty cell between separate blocks. For example, a row clued "3 1" has a run of three filled cells, then a gap, then one filled cell. You fill cells you've proven must be shaded and mark cells you've proven are empty.
The puzzle is solved when every filled cell matches both its row and column clues, which reveals the hidden picture. Completing it extends your daily streak and records your solve time.
Daily Nonogram Strategy & Tips
Start with the biggest clues
Rows or columns whose numbers nearly fill the line overlap with themselves. A clue of 8 in a 10-wide row forces the middle six cells filled no matter where the block sits — free certainties to build from.
Mark empties as aggressively as fills
Crossing off cells that can't be filled is just as powerful as shading. Known empty cells split a line into segments and make the remaining clues fit in only one way.
Work rows and columns together
Every filled cell answers to two clues at once. After deducing in a row, jump to the columns it touches — the new information usually unlocks a fresh round of deductions.
Solve daily to read overlaps faster
Because the daily grid keeps a steady size and difficulty, repeating it trains your eye for forced overlaps. Track your time and watch the picture come together quicker each day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the daily nonogram the same for everyone?
Yes. One grid is published per calendar date and served to all players, so your solve time can be compared with anyone else who completed that day's puzzle.
What do the numbers in a nonogram mean?
Each number is the length of a block of consecutive filled cells in that row or column, listed in order, with at least one empty cell separating one block from the next.
Can a nonogram be solved by logic alone?
A well-formed nonogram, including the daily, has a single solution reachable by deduction. Marking confirmed empties and using overlaps removes the need to guess.
What's another name for nonograms?
They go by several names — Picross, Griddlers, Hanjie, and Paint by Numbers all describe the same row-and-column picture-logic puzzle.
