Daily Word Game

The Daily Word Game gives every player the same hidden five-letter word each day, with six guesses to crack it. Made famous by the once-a-day Wordle format, its appeal is the single shared puzzle: everyone faces the same word, so results and streaks are directly comparable. You return once daily, not for an endless stream.

Daily Word Game Rules

Each day there is one secret five-letter word, identical for all players. You have six attempts; every guess must itself be a valid five-letter word, which you type and submit.

After each guess, the tiles change color as feedback: a green tile means the letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different spot, and gray means the letter isn't in the word at all.

You win by guessing the word within six tries. Solving extends your daily streak and produces a shareable grid of colored squares — with no letters shown — so you can compare without spoiling the answer.

Daily Word Game Strategy & Tips

Open with a vowel-rich word

A first guess loaded with common letters — words like ADIEU, AUDIO, or RAISE — quickly tests several vowels and frequent consonants, giving you the most information from one try.

Spend guess two on new letters

Before you start placing greens, fire off a second word made entirely of fresh letters. Covering ten different letters in two guesses dramatically narrows the field.

Respect the yellows

A yellow letter belongs in the word but not where you put it. Move it to a new position in your next guess rather than abandoning it.

Watch for repeated letters late

When you're stuck with greens locked in, the answer often hides a doubled letter. Words like the day's solution can repeat an E, L, or O, so test that before you burn your last guess.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the daily word the same for everyone?

Yes. A single five-letter word is chosen for each calendar date and served to all players worldwide, which is why you can compare results and streaks with friends.

What do the colors mean?

Green means the letter is correct and in the right position, yellow means it's in the word but elsewhere, and gray means it isn't in the word at all.

What's the best first word to guess?

Pick a real five-letter word rich in common letters and vowels — ADIEU, RAISE, CRANE, and SLATE are popular openers because they test high-frequency letters fast.

Why can I only play once a day?

The one-word-a-day format is the whole point: a shared puzzle everyone solves on the same day, building suspense and a daily streak rather than letting you grind endlessly.
